Who would be the audience for your media product?

Who would be the audience for your media product?
My audiece would be around 15-30 year olds. This is because around the age of 15 is when I think people start getting more interested in music of their own, rather than just the mainstream heavily promoted stuff, and this means that they people around this age would go looking for more types of music. I don’t want to aim at anyone younger, because I don’t think anyone younger is going to be interested, plus I want my magazine to look a little more mature than the magazines aimed at younger people.

I’m keeping 30 as the top end because I want my articles to be quite short and sweet to keep the younger people interested. I feel that people over 30 have either moved onto a different kind of music, or just want to read bigger articles.
Also, I would mostly cover new (ish) artists, and older fans of metal will probably be more into more classic metal, rather than the newer stuff.

Lot’s of people around 15-early twenties generally don’t have that much money because they’re either a student, or aren’t in as well paid job, so I’m keeping my magazine as cheap as possible, but keeping it fairly small.
As I noted before, I’m selling my magazine online, and younger people use the internet far more than older generations so it is more likely that they will discover my magazine, and are more likely to use the internet to purchase it.

How did you attract/address your audience?

First of all, as my magazine would be sold on the Internet I would advertise it on music sites ones like metalinjection. This means I would be getting out to the right audience, who could be interested in what I’m selling. In the advert I would show who I would be interviewed or reviewed in the magazine.

I wouldn’t spend to much on advertisements, I would lean towards advertise my magazine by posting a link to it on forums of web sites, again like metalinjection. This would cost nothing, and the magazine would do better from being heard of because of word of mouth.

I would address my audience because by making my magazine seem to have a conventional style, but the contents of it to be much more aimed at a niche market.

‘ The Usual’ in the bottom left is white with black outline so that i would stand out, even though it’s out of the way. I kept it simple because it is the usual things, regular readers would already be familiar with it, and i wanted to give the impression that i always used that style for it.

i added in the bottom banner showing the free things. I kept it nice and out of the way so that it wouldn’t distract readers from the actual contew
