4 03 2011This is largely to see what colour scheme i will use for my poster, as I already have a layout (sort of).

Slasher horror poster
16 02 2011Like others i’ve looked at, this uses three basic colours; red, white and black. I think this is going to be my colour scheme when I o my poster, because it not only has a very basic feel to it, it is also it’s a horror because people often link these colours (when together) to horror.

Zombie style horror posters
14 02 2011The simplicity of the colour scheme isĀ also an option for me when creating my poster, It’s completely just red, black and white and this is typical of many horror posters. The picture is also a location shot in London, as we can see the tower of Big Ben, which is something i was originally thinking of doing.

‘Teen’ horror movie poster
14 02 2011The thing with this poster is that it’s already building on a well known franchise, Final Destination. However, i do like the style, and how it works. The poster being a rollercoaster ride is lamost trying to reflect the audience of the film, being frightened, and also works in the way that the actors are frightened by the ride, but also by something more scary, them dieing.
I would also like to include my tagline on top of my movie title, but i don’t think i’ll want to have my title take up so much of the page, and not in the middle.

‘Classic’ horror/thriller poster
14 02 2011I think the style of the poster is great, I to want to be using this combination of white pictures on a black background with the red title. It’s a very simple style, but it’s quite creepy at the same time, with the boys shadow being this wolf creature, and this feel is something i’m going to try to pull off. The poster almost tells you what to expect, without over doing it, via the shadow, and the frightened faces at the top, you know it’ll be a horror. However, the ‘you have been warned’ at the top isn’t something I want to do, it’s a very outdated style to put on a poster, so even if it works here, it wouldn’t work in a modern-day horror.

Polls…
14 02 2011My first poll ‘what sort of horrors do you prefer?’ i got all my figures from people my age. It shows me that Hand-held style movies, like the one i’m doing, are popular amongst my age group at this time. In this sense, it makes me confident in my choice of style for my trailer, as it appeals to my target audience.
My second poll: ‘Best movie poster?: REC2 The Ring The Amityville Horror’ shows me what direction I should go with for my poster. The Amityville Horror poster came up (by far) on top, and this works nicely with what I want to do with my poster. What i want to do is a shot of the ‘killer’ by the Chapel i’m filming by.

Paranormal Activity ‘Handheldstyle’ poster
14 02 2011I’m going to be making a series of posts linking back to my opinion poll on what horror movies people like the most. This post is on the ‘hand-held’ style poster.
This one is quite minimalistic, the picture is just a shot from the movie, and doesn’t show anything particularly interesting. However, the picture does show that it is going to be one of these ‘hand-held’ style horrors, as it as a night-vision blue tint to it, and the time in the corner of the pciture. The picture also links to the review on the top: ‘Paranormal Activity is one of the scariest movies of all time. You will be affected as it’s hard to ignore the imprint it leaves on your physch. Nightmares are guaranteed.’ In the picture, it almost looks as if the people in it are having a nightmare. It also has the quote ‘what happens when you sleep?’ under the title. Again, this links back to the picture.
The colours of the poster are mainly blue and black, giving a night-time feel to the poster. The title of the movie ‘Paranormal Activity’ is in bold red and this makes it stand out from the poster, drawing your attention to it. This means that even at a glance you know what the movie is called, and when you see a trailer, or a poster again, audiences can almost say ‘I’ve heard of that’. In tht sense, this is a successful poster. However, it isn’t the style i would like to go with, with is because it is very dull, and isn’t likely to make you be curious to what it’s about as it essntially tells you what the film is via the title.

Location + actor shots.
10 02 2011Just a couple of pics i did while filming. These show the murky atmosphere I want (or rather, have) for my film, and also show the Caravan i filmed a bit by, which reflects the style of horror I want, which is like The Hills Have Eyes, with hillbillies basically just killing a group of people.
